Data first. No unsupported hype.
BTCorMSTR exists to answer one deceptively simple question — should you have bought Bitcoin or MSTR? — with live data instead of vibes.
The problem
The Bitcoin-versus-MSTR debate is everywhere, and almost all of it is loud. Threads argue about leverage and premiums with screenshots and gut feelings, but rarely with a clean, up-to-date view of the actual numbers: what mNAV is right now, how much bitcoin backs each share, and what a specific investment would actually be worth today.
What this is
A position-centric terminal for the two assets. Start from a dollar amount and a date, and the site shows you the road not taken. Or go deep on Strategy's balance sheet, the preferred stack, and the mechanics that make MSTR move harder than the bitcoin it holds.
What this isn't
- Not financial advice — it's data and education.
- Not a trading platform — nothing here executes orders.
- Not sponsored — no affiliate links, no paid placements.
- Not a price predictor — we show what happened, not what will.
Our principles
- No fake numbers. Every figure is live or clearly stamped with when it was last verified. If data is unavailable, we say so instead of guessing.
- Show your work. Every formula is on the methodology page.
- Respect both sides. Bitcoin maximalists and MSTR bulls should both find the data fair.
- Privacy first. We collect anonymous, aggregate usage stats (page views and which tools get used) with no cookies and no personal data — never your portfolio, which stays in your browser and never leaves it.
About the creator
This site was built and is maintained by an individual who prefers to stay anonymous. The creator has been personally invested in both Bitcoin and MicroStrategy (MSTR) for several years — long before this site existed. That history is what made the question “which one was the better bet?” feel worth answering properly.
Staying anonymous is a deliberate choice, not a red flag. It keeps the focus on the data rather than on any individual's persona or positions.
Conflict of interest disclosure. The creator of this site holds personal positions in both Bitcoin (BTC) and MicroStrategy stock (MSTR), acquired over several years. This site presents data on those same assets. Readers should be aware of this potential conflict when interpreting any analysis or commentary published here.
Not financial advice. Nothing on BTCorMSTR constitutes investment advice, a solicitation, or a recommendation to buy or sell any asset. All data, charts, calculators, and articles are for informational and educational purposes only. Past performance shown is historical fact, not a prediction of future returns.
Data accuracy. Prices and on-chain data are fetched in real time from third-party sources and may occasionally be delayed, incomplete, or incorrect. Balance-sheet figures are sourced from SEC filings and strategy.com and are hand-verified periodically — see each figure's “as of” stamp. Always verify independently before making any decision.
No affiliation. This site has no affiliation with MicroStrategy Incorporated, Strategy, the Bitcoin Foundation, or any exchange, broker, or fund. There are no affiliate links and no paid placements.
